David Lyme

Men's XV Head Coach

Coach Lyme began coaching the Fairfield Yankees near the end of their 2014 season. An accomplished veteran of the sport, Lyme has captained six squads and played in some of the most competitive levels in Australia. Perhaps his proudest achievements are his two boys who now play on local teams. Coach Lyme reinforces his coaching philosophy that:

“It’s about relationships, the enjoyment of the game and most importantly about the culture of the TEAM.

Unity within the TEAM with increased positivity and belief “

Grant “Randy” Heller

Coach – 2nd XV’s and Chairman of the Board

Coach Randy rejoined the coaching staff to focus on developing our player talent pool in 2016. He joined the Yankees as a player in 1982 and has been a committed club member ever since. In addition to his playing success, including various select side honors, he received a “Yankees Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2007 for his contributions on and off the field. He has served on the Executive Board of the club since 2005 and has been a formative influence in all aspects of the Yankees organization, including the merger of the CT Yankees with Fairfield Rugby Club. In 2012, the executive board bestowed the title of “Chairman of the Board” on Randy for his devotion to the club. Informally, he is known as “Old Randy” or “Old Man” and is also very involved with Staples HS rugby, where he has coached and created a scholarship program for deserving rugby scholar-athletes. The Old Man’s mantra of seeking progress rather than perfection is an inspirational influence that reinforces the camaraderie, commitment, and rugby culture which embodies the Yankees.
